About Almonds, Pizzuta

Pizzuta Trees bloom in winter along the Southeastern coast of Sicily, when most other crops are deep in slumber. They enjoy lots of sun, cool nights, and fertile soil. The annual yield is low but results in a key advantage: an incredibly concentrated flavor, evocative of Marzipan or Almond Essence. In fact, they are the original nut used to produce bitter almond extract. They’re exceptionally fruity (almost cheery-like), milky and sweet, with a whisper of bitterness in the finish and an aroma that lingers minutes after the nut is devoured.
